We gain an immense amount of benefit in being still and watching our minds during sitting meditation, but we do spend a good amount of our waking life moving, whether in walking from place to place, washing the dishes, vacuuming, raking the leaves, lifting weights at the gym, or jogging. Quite often, when we are involved in such activities, our mind is millions of miles or years away. By practicing walking meditation, we can begin to bring ourselves back to our body and the present moment through this ordinary daily activity. I’ve just uploaded audio instructions for a short guided walking meditation. Feel free to experiment with different speeds, from moving at a snail’s pace to walking normally. Most people find their sweet spot to be walking somewhat more slowly that usual.
